I prolly made a mistake today by doing something I've known not to do. But I wanted to. Oddly enough, I also did something today I've wanted to do for a long time, even tho I couldn't. Late last night I went to Venice Beach and wrote:
THERE IS A CANAL ON LIGHTHOUSE ST. Nearby the thunder of crushing crashing waves rolls forth There is a bridge over the canal on Lighthouse St. Holding dear the darkness of the not so deep There are houses lying just beyond the lifeless canal on Lighthouse St. Houses that whisper cruel warning on the whistle of a windchime No ocean view Not brand new shades in pink, peach, and lime Here fewer folk seem to stumble upon the lightless life Subtle sudden sprinkles Soft serious sigh of cricket Streetlights friendly unreliable flicker Glassy gaze of that canal on Lighthouse St.

…and when driving home, I got a lil speedy on Venice Blvd…and got pulled over…by a cute female police officer. She said I was going over 60 in a 35, and I told her “the engine revs and it's a rental, sorry ma'am!” Got off with a warning and a lil shame. My brother: "you've only had a license 2 weeks or something and you got pulled over and got out of it?"
08 May 2005 @ 03:59 am i wonder if there's a gang sign for being down with trek? you know the blood and the crips kind of gang signs, the ones you see flashed in the movies, on tv, or very soon in your own west la neighborhood? only now it's a race war, escalating tensions among latinos and blacks…some of it possibly sparking from the heated mayoral race between Hahn and Villaraigosa. I'm thinking Villaraigosa, but Hahn's hitting hard as he can. It's like Hahn saying, "Bush got a 2nd term, he did, he did! , you GOTTA give me the job, I HAVE THE BLACK VOTE! And the others do not shudder as they once did in Bradley's day.

Let's put it this way, I know people who are getting killed. Like me I know them. And like multiple fucking people right? People you shared a laugh with or a cig, shook your head at something ridiculous with. People you passed time with but didn't know, but it'll like Friendster. It's 1 Friend away! And people are talking, "ah nigga's and mexicans are having at it, some nigga's stole some drugs from mexicans and now the mexicans have it out for niggas, they want to take 400 of us down". The world is NOT CRUMBLING around my ears, being broadcast allthewhile on the local evening news!
